Lewisham LGBT+ Forum

The date for the next Lewisham LGBT Forum is Friday 26th August 2016 from 6pm until 8pm at the Civic Suite in Catford, SE6 4RU

The meeting will discuss ideas for the official launch of the Lewisham LGBT Forum in October and events for National Hate Crime Awareness Week.

The Lewisham LGBT Forum is a way for local organisations and the lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer community in Lewisham to link in with each other, network, cross refer and find out about events/services and what is on offer for the LGBTQ community. We also aim to help each other organise events and publicity around important dates in the LGBTQ calendar, such as LGBT History Month, Transgender Day Of Remembrance, Pride events and National Hate Crime Awareness Week etc. The forum is open to the community and organisations and members of the public are welcome to attend as participate.

Lewisham LGBT Forum

Today we had a preliminary meeting for the creation of the new Lewisham LGBT Forum. The next public meeting will be on Tuesday 26th July 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at Catford Civic Suite. We would like all members of the community who are interested in future events, issues they need to feed back to organisations, ideas on campaigning, discussions that they feel need to be raised etc to come along.

The aims of the Lewisham LGBT Forum is to be able to come together to plan activities around LGBT issues, provide a forum for residents to talk directly with statutory services and for collaboration on joint LGBT initiatives. The forum aims to bring people together who are interested in local LGBT issues so things can be planned in advance, so people can network, raise the profile of LGBT issues in Lewisham, have a coordinated voice on local equalities policy, training, work with statutory organisations etc and to promote LGBT inclusion and community building.

If you are interested in attending a meeting or being involved but can’t make the next meeting please contact Peter Vittles from The Metro Charity so we can add you to a mailing list! Email peterv@metrocharity.org.uk

Happy new (qw)year

The first #LGBT Green Man drop-in of 2016 will be on Wednesday 13th January 2016 from 6pm until 8pm at the Green Man Community Hub,

The Green Man 355 Bromley Road, London SE6 2RP
I would be interested in discussing #LewishamPeoplesDay and #LGBTHistoryMonth with people so we can organise some things for the community.
Currently we are looking into a tent for all things LGBT on the borough of #Lewisham for Lewisham People’s Day 2016. I’d be particularly interested in hearing from you if you have a specific LGBT service in Lewisham and would be potentially interested in a stall/table/place in the tent to advertise a group, club or organisation. The provisional and unconfirmed date for LPD2016 is currently Saturday 9th July.
It really is vital people make use of the LGBT spaces we have left and I know some struggle to get the word out about what’s on offer.
Please come along to the meeting or get in touch with me LGBT-PL@met.police.uk or Trevor Pybus of Community Connections SouthEast Cluster.
