The next Lewisham LGBT Forum meeting will be on 13th December 2016 at 7pm at the Civic Suite in Catford. We will be discussing ideas for events and activities we could put on for LGBT History Month in February. The Clinical Commisioning Group would also like some feedback on a survey they are doing.
Please remember we are a community group organising ideas for the LGBT History Month, and as such will have no funding – so creativity, contacts and volunteering will be needed!
It’s the Green Man drop-in for all LGBTQ+ people in Lewisham (or surrounding!) who would like to come along. This month: tabletop ping pong! Get in the Olympic spirit by showing us your paddle skills (no spanking!).
All welcome. This is also a Opening Doors London meeting so people of all ages welcome! Coffee and tea available.
We meet on the second Wednesday of every month. Next meeting: Wednesday 10th August 2016 from 6pm until 8pm at The Green Man Community Hub (knock on the window if the security don’t see you!), 355 Bromley Road, London SE6 2RP
There is a bus stop right outside the Green Man if you are travelling from Lewisham/Catford direction. The 208, 136, 321 all serve. The nearest train station is Beckenham Hill (but it’s about a 10-15 min walk).
The first Lewisham LGBT forum is tonight at the Civic Suite in Catford from 6pm until 8pm. This is a chance for community to speak to local services and find out what lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender services there are available to those living in Lewisham borough. It is also a chance to discuss what the community can organise together for upcoming events such as Hate Crime Awareness Week, Bisexual Awareness Week, National Coming Out Day, Transgender Day Of Remembrance – or to help organise LGBT-specific events as part of larger themes such as Black History Month/Disability History Month/Holocaust Memorial Day etc.
Come along to the next coffee shop social (tea also available!) on Thursday 5th November 2015 from 2pm to 5pm at the Costa Coffee shop on Rushey Green (next to Kaspa’s ice cream bar). I’ll bring a rainbow flag this time so we are easier to spot!
I’m starting this to gather as much information about what is currently on offer in Lewisham for people who identify as any of the following: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or gender non-conforming, questioning (of gender or sexuality), intersex or asexual, or any other non-majority identification relating to gender or sexuality (pansexuals, demi-persons, agender) and their allies, supporters and anyone who provides a service of interest.
Whenever I search for what is on in Lewisham the only results seem to relate to what is no longer here, and not focussing on all the things that are on offer for current residents, visitors and workers in the area.
So no more dwelling on the past, let’s start a social action movement and get some stuff we want set up!
