The next meeting of the Lewisham LGBT Forum is at the Civic Suite in Catford on January 10th 2017 at 1900 hours (7pm). This is an open meeting and everyone is welcome! Agenda items will include updated plans for LGBT History Month as well as Rise Partnership introduction around sexual health support/testing on borough.
The Civic Suite is on Catford Road in Catford SE6 4RU next to the theatre.
The next Lewisham LGBT Forum meeting will be on 13th December 2016 at 7pm at the Civic Suite in Catford. We will be discussing ideas for events and activities we could put on for LGBT History Month in February. The Clinical Commisioning Group would also like some feedback on a survey they are doing.
Please remember we are a community group organising ideas for the LGBT History Month, and as such will have no funding – so creativity, contacts and volunteering will be needed!
Hello all! It’s the LGBT Coffee Social today (01/09/16) from 2pm until 5pm at the Costa Coffee in Rushey Green, Catford (the big one next door but one to Kaspa’s ice cream). Look for the Rainbow flag being used as a tablecloth. Or look for Susan who looks like this:
Any feedback on the launch event for the Lewisham LGBT forum will be welcome and I can tell people a bit more about the provisional plans we have in place for the event on the 11th October!
The date for the next Lewisham LGBT Forum is Friday 26th August 2016 from 6pm until 8pm at the Civic Suite in Catford, SE6 4RU
The meeting will discuss ideas for the official launch of the Lewisham LGBT Forum in October and events for National Hate Crime Awareness Week.
The Lewisham LGBT Forum is a way for local organisations and the lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer community in Lewisham to link in with each other, network, cross refer and find out about events/services and what is on offer for the LGBTQ community. We also aim to help each other organise events and publicity around important dates in the LGBTQ calendar, such as LGBT History Month, Transgender Day Of Remembrance, Pride events and National Hate Crime Awareness Week etc. The forum is open to the community and organisations and members of the public are welcome to attend as participate.
Apologies to all who attended the last Lewisham LGBT Forum meeting who were expecting to have another meeting tomorrow (Friday
19th August 2016)
). We have had to postpone the meeting tomorrow. We will post the new date/venue asap. We are hoping it will be next Friday instead but we’ll need to confirm a venue first.
The first Lewisham LGBT forum is tonight at the Civic Suite in Catford from 6pm until 8pm. This is a chance for community to speak to local services and find out what lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender services there are available to those living in Lewisham borough. It is also a chance to discuss what the community can organise together for upcoming events such as Hate Crime Awareness Week, Bisexual Awareness Week, National Coming Out Day, Transgender Day Of Remembrance – or to help organise LGBT-specific events as part of larger themes such as Black History Month/Disability History Month/Holocaust Memorial Day etc.
Today we had a preliminary meeting for the creation of the new Lewisham LGBT Forum. The next public meeting will be on Tuesday 26th July 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at Catford Civic Suite. We would like all members of the community who are interested in future events, issues they need to feed back to organisations, ideas on campaigning, discussions that they feel need to be raised etc to come along.
The aims of the Lewisham LGBT Forum is to be able to come together to plan activities around LGBT issues, provide a forum for residents to talk directly with statutory services and for collaboration on joint LGBT initiatives. The forum aims to bring people together who are interested in local LGBT issues so things can be planned in advance, so people can network, raise the profile of LGBT issues in Lewisham, have a coordinated voice on local equalities policy, training, work with statutory organisations etc and to promote LGBT inclusion and community building.
If you are interested in attending a meeting or being involved but can’t make the next meeting please contact Peter Vittles from The Metro Charity so we can add you to a mailing list! Email email@example.com
